it's a lifestyle choice :)

I’m currently in a lull, but I have come a LONG way since I first set out to do this goal.

I bought a road bike and have put about 1000 miles on it! I am also swimming at the local pool. I plan to join master’s swim next month and really immerse myself in an active lifestyle! Now that I’m more used to working full time & working out, I think my main challenge or distraction is having time to cook for myself! So I’ll find a way to get past that and the rest will be cake :)

This goal is forever. But it changes as things in my life change. I am going to make an honest effort to be active in my life no matter what! Working part time is a blessing in disguise…it will help me to remain active and working…and the idea will be easier to accept when I am full time. We need active lifestyles. Once my body adjusts to this crazy schedule (i give it a week), I can come home and do some yoga to relax, rather than just vegetate :) And swim at night even! Don’t assume what my limits are until I push them!!

I recently moved to LA and am starting work here next week. When I was living in SB, I walked to and from work two times a day (home for lunch). I feel like that really got me awake and ready for the day. So now I need to figure out a plan for getting energy and starting my day right…Just rolling out of bed and into the car isn’t going to help me to be alert and ready to take on a new job. I think my only option (because of time) is Yoga @ home. SO, here’s my plan: On days that I work, wake up, eat something small and do some yoga. On the other days, I will swim in the morning. Hopefully this will work for me.

So this quarter for school, I signed up for an aerobics class two days a week and have been swimming afterwards. I am also starting to go rockclimbing and have been walking more as well. It all still feels forced but I am slowly realizing how much better my day is if I work out :)

I’m also keeping up in class, cooking, doing a research assistant position on campus, annnd enjoying life!

Gotta keep movin…

So far so good! I have gone to the gym for three days in a row now. Lets see if I can keep this going!! Surprisingly though, now that i’ve started going at the same time everyday it seems harder to not go than to go. I feel the endorphins kicking in too :)

Also, when the rock wall opens at my gym after new years, I am going to do the belaying clinic with my boyfriend and start rock climbing as a workout too!

And swimming :) Gotta have the full body workout…

change my lazy lifestyle

I want to start working out and get into a routine that will work indefinitely. Whether it be going on walks or situps and pushups in my room, I NEED to start being more active. All I do is bike for a total of 20-30 minutes a day and I can feel my body weakening as a result of sitting around.

Starting when finals are over, to ease myself into it:
Walk somewhere once a day (class, boyfriends house, the beach, etc)
50 situps and 10 pushups once a day
Have good posture!

Once I have mastered that…I will start going to the gym.
