Buy a House

I’m in a great apartment now and I’m secretly wondering if I really want a house. Is it too much work for me? Do I really want to spend my weekends mowing the lawn and fixing plumbing problems? The tax advantages would be nice, but wouldn’t any money saved there go straight into home maintenance? Real estate isn’t even a great investment vehicle these days.

I’m putting this one on hold. My rent is good, property tax is terrible, and my housing needs seem to change every few years. Maybe when the kids get old enough for school…
