I need to start doing this every day, and eventually ramp up to learning the form on the opposite side.

The last couple times I tried doing tai chi, I totally screwed up, got lost, found myself backtracking over a couple parts and generally mangled the form for a solid 45 minutes. I was getting worried that I’d have to take a class again.
That was over a month ago. Well, I got back into the flow this morning—went through the whole 108 movements without missing anything.
Well, except some of the finer points, I’m sure. I know that I cruised through it a little too fast, for one thing. Also, I know I’m not doing it right if I don’t feel ‘cool’—you know, when you have that calm, solid foundation that expresses itself in a surety of movement.
Ah, but the fact that I can still do this after almost 2 years of no classes or contact with a Tai Chi group makes me smile.
Yoga is easier for me to do, and flake out after 10 minutes of sun salutations, etc . . . that’s cool. But tai chi is a totally different discipline.
But the whole form now just seems to take almost an hour. time kind of melts away, when you do it right, but if you know you can cruise through the form in 22 minutes—it’s easier to justify putting the time in every day.
That’s the most important thing, if you ask me. daily practice.
