My potential Hangover Brunch, revised 3 years ago

Looks like I’ll be going out of town for New Year’s Eve. This is really just fine with me, as a dinner party at my house is probably a pipe dream for the forseeable future, anyway.

Instead, I think I’m going to bring a bunch of fun food with me on my New Year’s road trip, and I’ll make brunch for all of us at my friend’s house. I don’t think I’ll count it as actually HAVING a dinner party, but I think I will call it my Hangover Brunch On Location. It’ll be fun nonetheless.

This is all Julia Child's fault. 3 years ago

I have been an absolute beast in the kitchen lately. (In a good way, not a bad way.) I am cooking and baking, like, constantly. I blame this on having recently read Julia Child’s “My Life in France.” So my desire to have a dinner party has skyrocketed lately.

The other day I got a cookbook called “Vegan with a Vengeance,” which is really great. It has an amazing brunch section, which made me think about how brunch is really a terribly underrated meal. Is it breakfast? Is it lunch? Who can tell? Genius!

Christmas is coming up, and my favorite part of Christmas is probably that it means New Year’s is close behind. New Year’s Eve is DEFINITELY my favorite holiday, because it is socially acceptable to dress up, get drunk, and kiss strangers, things which I do fairly often anyway. The downside of this, of course, is when the drunkenness catches up with you the next morning.

SO. I think this year I am going to combine my loves of cooking, brunch, and New Year’s Eve, and my hatred of hangovers, and throw a Hangover Brunch on New Year’s Day.
