This little town looks like Stars Hollow to me…I didn’t really get a good picture of it though.

Grain elevators seem like they are in almost every small town in the Texas panhandle…at least, every small town on the railroad line. This is in White Deer.
I had a surprise birthday dinner for W. on Monday night. We went back to Boot Hill…the restaurant we went to about a month ago. The girl with the bandana on her head is the chef, Rory(she was on a food network reality show this summer-don’t know what it was called.)The girl is a good friend of ours and the other guy is W.’s cousin. We had the best time!
everything is bigger in Texas. I want to enter something from my garden in the fair next year! I would love to have prize winning jalepeno peppers. I don’t think I could compete with the tomatoes but I enjoy the peppers. This is Wrus with his boss/friend and a friend/ collegue and some huge pumpkins/gourds(I don’t really know what these are.)
W. riding the mechanical bull at the Tri-State Fair. The Fair is in September every year but last year was the first time I had ever been. I love the fair now…it is cheesy and crowded but I love the retroness of it.
Elie Wiesel was the convocation speaker at a local university. This was taken that evening when he had a Q&A at a more formal event. We were all so giddy to hear him speak…he didn’t disappoint.
W. with our pack of dogs. The 2 new additions are reputed to be Tibetan terriers. They are sooooooo cute but wow! what a handful. The lady at the pound suggested we introduce the dogs on neutral territory instead of just taking them home(where our dogs would have the the upper hand and be terrritorial.) It worked like a charm and everyone got along great. Once we got home Max was a little feisty but not too bad. This is at a park in town…Central Park.
We drove about 30 miles last Tuesday to go to a little town called Vega. Vega has a restaurant called Boot Hill Saloon and apparently a history with reality tv shows. Boot Hill Saloon belongs to Rory who was on a food network show but came in second. She wound up in Vega from some other reality show a few years back…anyway, the food was GREAT and we all had a wonderful time.
Hi Clare…Some photos to show you what life here looks like. This is the drive home from Miami(pronounced Miama- I don’t know why.)I had to pick some things up there today…about 20-25 miles away. I miss you!!!
