Record/Distribute my Music

so i’ve had this song in my head and in my heart ALL day –
i didn’t listen to a lick of music while i was at my desk or in my car – i just worked out my song in my mind about a zillion times.
when i got home, i pulled out my mic and hooked it up to my laptop, tuned my guitar, sat down on my bed, rigged the mic up and in one take – one amazing and awesome take – it happened.
the guitar picked up so beautifully, and i added all these little flourishes that i didn’t even know were going to happen.
for three and a half minutes, i was unafraid and my voice carried confidence. the tone was there. the pitch was there.
it was almost as if i became the song itself, and it became real and tangible. it became more than sound…it became my beating heart.

so i wrote a song last night.
i was trying to be good and go to bed early and actually sleep and then i started thinking about my friend who will be coming into some milestones pretty soon…and i won’t be there for any of it because i live here and he lives there and there are these mountains in the way.
so. i began to weep, in that weepy way that i often do when i miss home and friends. and this song was born.
i finished it on the way to work, in between stoplights and traffic. i have the chords all worked out in my mind. there will be a banjo and a cello and my soft guitar.
i haven’t written anything in awhile – a had a blurb of a solo that i finally expanded a few months ago. i actually did a rough recording and sent it to this very friend. it was well received, which made me glad because i wrote it for him.
so i’m going to start on this one…then slap it it on a cd and send it to him for graduation day. i even drew the cd cover already.
