read Ulysses

now, where did i put that book…?

i keep going back to other books because i do a lot of my reading on the bus and ulysses is just too heavy to carry with everything else i have to take to work! so instead i find myself reading “peter pan” stories again. will i ever make it to the end?

however, i do find that i enjoy ulysses much more than i thought i would; that is, i’ve only been thinking about how HUGE it is and how people say it’s confusing – i’d forgotten that joyce’s prose is beautiful, or any of the other reasons why i originally wanted to read it!

started last nite!

alright; i have to start ulysses this weekend, because i said i would start it by July 1st. i have finished the book of short faery tales i was reading, and now nothing stands between me and mr. joyce. i’ll try not to be too afraid.

haven’t opened it. had to fulfill a promise to read “villette” first, and since villette is on the longish side, it was suggested that i read some shorter tales to cleanse my palette before jumping into “ulysses”. so i’m re-reading george macdonald’s complete faery tales, and then i’m seriously going for it. really. seriously.

checked the book out of the library.
