76 - he lets me edit his book : ) 10 months ago

My husband has been writing a technical book for some time now, and, as he finishes each chapter, he gives it to me to proofread. I love suggesting changes to help improve flow, and he accepts the vast majority of changes I suggest. The book almost feels like a collaboration. : )

# 77 - retirement planning 2 years ago

My husband actively plans for the fiscal security of our future/’retirement.’ Although we are just 41 and 30, life in the US is not cheap, and the financial aspects of lifestyle maintenance at retirement age need to be considered relatively early in ones life (unfortunately, social security will likely not exist by the time we retire). To this end, he has established a diversified investment portfolio which will, if trends continue modestly upward (and we continue to add a certain constant amount), support us into creaky, squeaky, old age. :)

# 78 - manages my fear of flying 2 years ago

Flying is not an infrequent activity for us, but it is a facet of traveling that I absolutely abhor. My husband, on the other hand, flies even more frequently, for his work, and is not at all bothered by being locked up inside of a metal container 30,000 feet above the ocean.

He always holds me during takeoff, landing, turbulence, perceived turbulence, strange sounds, too-loud footsteps, etc…

# 79 - artist in hiding 2 years ago

A couple of of my husband’s ‘hidden’ skills are watercolor painting and drawing. Once upon a time, I stumbled upon some landscape drawings that he had done while attending college, and I thought that they were very good.

Hopefully, once I wrap up my FREAKING degree – and our financial burdens are relatively loose – he can invest more time in developing his watercolor skills. :)

# 80 - he loves bunnies! 2 years ago

We agree that bunnies are amongst the sweetest, most adorable creatures on Earth (rivaled only by ducklings and pandas!). Since our lifestyle is not conducive to pet ownership, we both volunteer as ‘rabbit socializers’ for the MN Companion Rabbit Society. Our tasks include monitoring the basic health of adoptable rabbits, and, of course, entertaining/being entertained by the little cuties!!

# 81 - quietly snoring blanket thief 2 years ago

It is difficult to encapsulate my adoration for my husband’s sleeping habits, but here are a few characteristics that I love:

1) He snores quietly, which means that I can enjoy the sound of his sleep respiration without being kept awake by it.

2) He steals the blankets, which I think is cute. :)

3) His attempts to hold me usually result in him nudging me all the way to the edge of our huge bed by morning!

# 82 - indulges my fetish for souvenirs and other miscellanea 2 years ago

I am an unfortunate sucker with regards to handicrafts, souvenirs, and absolutely ANYTHING ‘rubber duckie.’ My husband has come to recognize the look on my face when I absolutely LOVE something and, so long as that ‘something’ is not a Lamborghini, he will either buy it on the spot, or surprise me with it at a later date. :)

# 83 - he is an excellent grill chef 2 years ago

...medium rare filet with char-crust seasoning, anyone?

...drools…

# 84 - captivated by my musings on infinity 2 years ago

Last weekend, while we were enjoying a quiet, contemplative evening, we stumbled into deep conversations about the biochemical regeneration of life on Earth, and the possibility of boundless infinities beyond the walls of our universe.

While I was rambling, he snuggled up close to me with a look of wonder in his eyes.

It was magical. :)

# 85 - his accent 2 years ago

Although my husband’s accent is almost gone, a hint of South Asia can still be heard…

He has made many conscious attempts at accent reduction but, no matter what he does, he cannot eliminate it altogether.

It is just, honestly, adorable. :)
