#6 - Leonard Cohen

I just finished, I’m Your Man – The Life of Leonard Cohen, by Sylvie Simmons. Very enjoyable.

#5 - Steve Jobs

by Walter Isaacson.

#4 - Moving Violations

This book was the autobiography of NPR correspondent, John Hockenberry, who was paralyzed in a car accident in 1976. It details his struggles coming to terms with his disability and society and the world’s perceptions of him as a paraplegic.

He determined not to be limited by his disability in the living of his life, and he pretty much succeeded, due to a feiry attitude. I think this is a quality of greatness.

#3 - The Pat Metheny Interviews

This set of interviews with jazz musician Pat Metheny covered a broad view of his life and his philosophies on music and life. Though not precisely a biography or autobiography, I consider it as fulfilling the spirit of what this goal entails – learning about what made someone a “great” person.

I have recently come to tremendously admire Pat Metheny, and am glad I got this glimpse into his genius.

#2 read - A Natural Woman

Singer/songwriter Carole King’s autobiography.

#1 read - The Life of Michelangelo...

...by Ascanio Condivi

This biography was written by a contemporary, who was an intimate of Michelangelo.

Michelangelo!

My next biography will be of Michelangelo. Yay!

The spirit of greatness

I feel that my life has improved greatly having read the biographies or autobiographies of people like Gandhi, J.S. Bach, and St. Francis last year. I am increasing the number this year to eight. I can’t wait Hmm… now to choose who to read about!
