Today I am a little bit more up than I have been in several months. It is such a relief to not have to push myself so hard just to do everyday chores.

I got up this morning at 6 am to get my son to a race. I was so tempted to just go back to sleep when the alarm went off. I’m glad I did not. I woke up my son and he still wanted to go. I was on my feet for 2 hours after we got to the race.
Following through on doing something important like this gave me a positive attitude that lasted all day. This event was important because this is something me and my son will NEVER forget.
I have been “casting my cares on the Lord” regularly lately. I use a datebase program to document my prayer needs which are everything that causes me concern in my life. I document it as a prayer, such as “Lord, please help my daughter and her husband to be wise with their money”. After I do this, I consider it done.
I go over my list daily as a reminder that these things are in God’s hand. Whatever else is bothering me, I add to the list. If something is specifically answered, I record the answer. If something is no longer an issue, I record that.
Since I have been doing this more consistantly I have had a much better attitude. My daughter is able to be more open with me because she sees that I am not going to unload my concern for her on her. She was kind of surprised that I was calm when she talked about finances. I could calmly say that I had been praying for her and I know it will work out.
How is THAT for a positive attitude. Yeah!
I don’t think I realized how down I was on myself until I started posting here regularly. When I hear the positive feedback from others who are WAY more positive than me, I realize that I have a LONG way to go before being content with the way I am. Doesn’t that even sound like a negative statement?
As long as we are alive we will have room for growth. It is better to realize that there is a NEED for growth, than to not work on an area because we wrongly believe that it is not negatively affecting people in our lives. But being down on ourselves is defeating for us as well as for the people in our sphere of influence.
The biggest thing I am doing to improve my attitude it to focus on the things that I CAN do. Then I see what way those things can help with the things that I do not yet no well.
With the encouragement of the people I am meeting here, I can see that my attitute really is improving. Part of it might be because I am now more focused on getting done the things that are the most important to me. When I have used my time more wisely, I am more content. Being content helps me have a better attitude. Now I need to keep it up and make it a habit. Yes!
The responces to my posts here are helping me have a more positive attitude.
Thanks!
It takes work! I had a lot of negativity come at me when I was growing up. It is really hard to break free from that even when you do not like it. I know I am a lot better at being positive than I used to be. But I still have A LOT of room for improvement.
