I haven’t been to the gym since I started taking care of my infant second cousin full time… five months ago! :(

Last Saturday evening my youngest started a youth group which meant I had a full hour with no little ones—so I went to the gym!

It felt great. I had forgotten. I’m so glad I have a regular time now, even if it’s just an hour a week.



How will I find the time 20 months ago

Tomorrow I start taking care of my infant second cousin full time (from 6:30 am to 5:30 or so pm). My lovely three-mornings-a-week gym schedule will be no more. I’m also worried my husband will stop going. Since I’ve been busy trying to finish several things before tomorrow, I haven’t been going as much and he hasn’t gone without me. It’s really good for him (well, me too but I just walk and he’s built a lot of muscle). So, I need to figure out when. Evenings are full with our kids and dinner. 5:30 in the morning is just not going to happen! Maybe I’ll try one or two evenings and Sunday.



Oh how I love the gym 23 months ago

We have a regular routine now and go to the gym three times a week. It is a great break with the kids safely enjoying childcare. I feel better. The main thing is getting up and going first thing in the morning. Otherwise I won’t go.

I was thinking about checking this off as completed, but I have some schedule and job transitions coming up that could set me back. So I’m going to keep it on my list for awhile to keep me focused.

We were in a pretty regular gym routine, took a break for the holidays, and plan to start up again on Monday when the kids go back to school. Looking forward to it!



Went to the gym today 2 years ago

I hadn’t been in a couple weeks since summer started and the kids got out of school. My husband hadn’t been in a couple months since before his business trip. So we went today for an hour and I think we’ll go tomorrow, too. I did a mile on the elliptical machine and a mile on the treadmill while watching a movie.

The 30 day trial I got my parents is almost up and I think they’re going to join. :)

My mom got me a pedometer and I love seeing the steps add up, then comparing totals with her.

I’ve been going to the gym a lot and I feel great.

The kids were driving me crazy all morning. So they went into the child area and I went to the elliptical machine. I did a mile at a slow and steady pace. I’m usually done after a mile, but I didn’t want to pick up the kids yet! So I rode the bike for awhile, started sweating, and normally I’d have stopped immediately (hate sweating), but I just wasn’t ready to get them yet. So I walked a mile or so on the treadmill and watched the beginning of the Superman movie. I exercised for about an hour (the longest ever) and by the time I picked them up I had had the break I needed. :)



Heading back to the gym 2 years ago

Okay, I plan to go to the gym three times this week. My knee is feeling better (been taking MoveFree), and I returned the shoes that hurt my feet. I’ll avoid stair climbing, but will try the elliptical machine (thanks to a suggestion).



Giving my knee a rest 2 years ago

I found the stair stepper at the gym and wow, loved it! I was doing a slow and steady pace of 30 flights in 10 minutes. After a few days, though, my knee really hurt. I’ve never had knee pain before. I hope I recover soon, and can get back on the treadmill at least. :(



Picking up the pace 2 years ago

I must be slowly getting fitter because I was able to nudge up the speed on the treadmill this week. I went to the gym MTW and am feeling good. Great news: my husband got a membership.
