use the library more

I feel like there is this big secret that everyone has been keeping from me. Its the LIBRARY!!!! Fuck consumerism borrow books for freeee!

I have a new love. This goal is going to be easy to keep. I went today and returned a video I checked out and borrowed a slow cooker cookbook and made a delicious meal tonight from it, I borrowed books on how to buy a home and I got the book I ordered. China Inc. Pretty interesting after just browsing the first page. I’m going to go read it now. YEAY!

I’m marking this off as DOONE. I LOOOVE my library!

I finally visited my local library today. I’ve lived in my house for about 3 years and live only about 2 miles from the local library. It had been so long since I had been I was no longer in the library system so i got a new card and check out 2 books and a movie. It was all sparked because My husband heard about a book he wanted to read and was going to buy it at the book store. Its a current events non fiction political book so its something you read once and maybe pass along.

Its funny I was kind of happy with the books I browsed through. lots of new contemporary book. I some how link libraries with lame book reports and needing lame old books to write something I dont want to. While books stores are all great and fancy and new.. ha. I know its a little ridiculous but my prejudice is gone. I just wish browsing books was just as easy at a library as it was at a book store. Thats my only complaint.

Anyway I’m pretty happy. I am planning on making library trips when I’m thinking about buying a book instead. Browse the book store for what I want then order it for free locally.

I was going through a box old business cards and credit cards/phone cards and ran across my library card. I was really happy until I realized it was for VENTURA county… I live in LA county now and have for the last 10+ years. Guess I’ll have to keep looking.

I’ve decided that i want to read biographys of important figures. I’m not talking celebrity or those invoved in current events. I usually know whats going on currently so I’m talking about Edison and Tesla. There is so much knowlege out there I think reading about these people will be an ispiration.
