1. Learning a lot at work. I’m so glad I wasn’t alone in the blood bank because we had so many crazy patients.

2. I had some wonderful conversations with one of my co-workers tonight. We get along so well and I’m really happy to be forming a close friendship with her and others at work also.

3. Watched a few episodes of The Tudors – a television drama on Showtime that deals with the story of Henry VIII/Anne Boleyn, etc. Very entertaining and I’m glad I discovered it.

4. Hardly any traffic coming home on the highway – a perk of working second shift!

5. A glorious three day weekend is here! :D

1. I had a bench to myself today, with no trainers or other people watching me. It felt good to carve a little piece of freedom for myself.

2. Good progress on my cross stitch.

3. A lot of crying today. But crying is cleansing and good.

4. Beautiful sunshine and temperatures that weren’t too cold.

5. Warm cozy lounge pants that are great to snuggle up in.

1. Getting my official letter of acceptance from the ASCP. I read it over and over to make sure it was really real. :)

2. Getting a lesson from one of the techs today on preparing newborn blood transfusions. I will be absolutely terrified if one ever comes up when I’m working in blood bank, but I feel better having gone through the motions with someone.

3. Making a difficult but crucial decision today that, looking back on it, was the best thing I could have done.

4. Asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. Yum!

5. Knowing tomorrow is Friday and I have the weekend off. :)

6. My car is back home and I can finally drive it again.

7. Being able to relax and watch a movie this evening. I love this quiet, stress-less existance in the evenings.

1. Listening to the pouring rain in bed last night.

2. I opened myself up a little bit to someone at work. I tend not to talk about myself too much, so this was sort of big.

3. Good progress on my cross-stitch.

4. Thin mints! I forgot they were here, and opening my cupboard brought out squeals of glee.

5. My insurance company finally approved my medication. They denied it so many times I thought I would have to pay out of pocket for it, but my confidence in the healthcare system was restored.

6. My parents love and care for me being evident in their actions. I feel very lucky to have such a loving and supportive family.

1. Celebration and cheers from my co-workers for passing my test. My supervisor brought in bagels which was a wonderful surprise.

I was regaled much of the day today with stories from my co-workers of when they took their registry exams. These so reminded me of the tales that grandparents like to tell (i.e. “When I was your age, we walked 10 miles to school in the snow...with no shoes!”) Today I heard things like, “When I took the registry, it was 1000 questions long!”, and “When I took it, it took me eight hours and I didn’t find out my results for three months!” :)

2. Feeling loved and cared for.

3. Fresh squeezed orange juice.

4. Not feeling that tired after a pretty sleepless night.

5. My dog’s joy over her new tennis ball.

6. A warm cozy bed covered in warm cozy sheets that beckons me.

1. The best thing to happen to me in months – my exam is over and I did well. I’m finally licensed and it feels so great.

2. The way the trees looked covered in snow as the sun was setting. I took pictures but none of them do justice.

3. Hot cheesy pizza for supper.

4. Lots of laughs with my mother this evening.

5. Being able to go to bed when I want to tonight – and not because the studying has exhausted me.

2.24.08 22 months ago

1. A quiet night at work helped me gain some (much needed) confidence.

2. Being able to act quickly and provide information to help a doctor with his diagnosis.

3. Getting compliments from one of the women who is training me in blood bank. I wasn’t sure how to read them…they seemed to be watching me so closely and picking on everything I’ve done – but to get their approval feels amazing.

4. Having the mistakes I made Saturday night become a positive learning experience (and not the spectacular beat-down I was expecting!) :)

5. Homemade french toast with lots of cinnamon.

6. Beautiful sunny day with crisp, cool air that felt wonderful.

7. Having the day off Monday to study and relax.

2.20.08 22 months ago

1. A sweet email from a friend.

2. A good cry that let out a lot of pent up emotion. A few more of those and I’ll be good I think.

3. My parents stepping in and helping with my battle with my insurance company.

4. Being called “one tough cookie” by one of my co-workers.

5. A tasty chocolate pudding for dessert that hit the spot.

2.18.08 22 months ago

1) The beautiful drive home from work. It was raining, but the sun was also peeking out of the clouds. Beautiful.

2) Bonding more with my co-workers and (gasp) actually being somewhat talkative.

3) Figuring out my two antibody IDs in blood bank.

4) Lots of good songs on the radio to sing and dance too (when nobody is looking of course).

5) Comprehending my notes for once, in my nightly study session.

2.10.08 22 months ago

1. My bed was so comfortable this morning.

2. A mini Lost marathon this afternoon. I watched 6 episodes of Season 1, and was reminded why I love the show so much.

3. Some encouraging results to my endless studying…especially welcome because I haven’t felt I’ve been making any progress for the past week.

4. Beautiful sunshine this afternoon, even though the forecast called for an entire day of cold, icy rain.

5. Some clarity in my thinking.

6. My mother’s delicious pancakes from scratch.
