For the past week, waking up in the morning has been very difficult. I had been sleeping alot. Then, two days ago, I developed a “cold.” I just feel run-down. Sometimes I forget that my body can take care of itself if I let it. So, I’m not going to push it or beat up on myself for waking up late.

I learned something that is helping me a little. I read that we have 90 minute sleep cycles. If I need to get up at 6:30, I make sure I’m getting to sleep by 11:00. I set my alarm for the approximate end of a sleep cycle. I find that I’m not awakened out of a deep sleep…and I’m less groggy.
I have GOT to find some motivation to get up in the morning. I just want to sleep! Ok, I’m going to bed now…
Waking up in the morning for work is very hard for me. I know it’s an avoidance strategy. There are some things I just don’t want to do at work, and that’s when I oversleep. Going to bed late doesn’t help either. I am naturally a night person. I am most productive between 11:00am and 10:00pm. But that doesn’t help when you work in elementary schools!
