Ich bin ein kobold. — 3 years ago
I learned a little German for a trip we took in December 2003 to Berlin. My teacher: the Deutsche Welle web site, which has a slew of MP3s coverted from an old series of tapes called “German: Why Not?”
Sadly, my German language skills soon atrophied when I returned to Vancouver. Apart from the odd exchange with my friend Antje, there’s little opportunity to speak the language here in Lotusland. The main thing I’ve retained is the phrase “Ich bin ein kobold” (I am an elf).
Which only rarely comes up in everyday conversation.
