So I’ve been in kickboxing for 3 and a half months and it’s great! I feel MUCH stronger than I was when I began. It’s so hard that I’ve already lost 10 pounds…:P It really tones up your entire body while teaching you to defend yourself. My flexibility is also a little better.

They’re sweet, leather 16oz gloves. I haven’t been this pumped over a “thing” since I got my snowboard 6 years ago, or my truck 2 years ago… :) The added weight will definately help my punch power and arm/shoulder endurance. I used them this morning and they couldn’t fit any more perfectly.
I’m feeling like I’m in better shape already. I’m down from 197ish to 192 and I’m aiming for 185. One of my goals was to be able to kick someone in the head. haha, I don’t really want to, just be able to, and last night at kickboxing I achieved that goal. Oh ya! I guess my next goal, which isn’t really easily measured, is to improve my balance and the amount of power in my hands and feet. It’s super tough, but it’s really fun and I’ve met some great people through it. It blows my mind how much there is to learn.
Tony Jaa. If you’ve seen his movies, you might agree. He is the next Jackie Chan or Jet Lee(that wasn’t intended to rhyme…). He’s a Muay Thai kickboxer(which is pretty cool since I just started taking muay thai) and a phenominal acrobat. I’ve seen two of his movies, Ong Bak, and The Protector, the latter of which I just watched on saturday. Some of the stunts he pulls are amazing. He at one point does a backflip over a large gap and lands in a handstand on a narrow ledge 20 feet off the ground. I don’t know if that’s easy to picture, but watch The Protector and you’ll know what I mean.
I’m going into week 4 and so far kickboxing is great. My punching has improved, my kicking has improved and my endurance has also improved. They really work you hard, but I feel like I already could defend myself better if confronted.
Well it’s the day after the second kickboxing class and although I AM sore, I’m not nearly as sore as I was for the first one. Progress! Maybe I’ll get in shape by summer after all.. :)
So I just got back from kickboxing and it was the hardest workout I’ve EVER had. Maybe it’s because I’m out of shape, the instructor said the first is the hardest and it gets easier. I’m going to be sore for at least 3 days… lol
Well I was supposed to start kickboxing this morning, but i ended up sleeping in…:P Not a great start
