Yes, too much water will cause you to lose nutrients – but that’s on the order of gallons per day. The ideal level of water consumption for an adult in a temperate climate is at least 2 liters (8 glasses) per day. And thirst is not an accurate indicator of needing more water, as it actually signifies significant dehydration, so drinking how much you ‘feel like’ is often not enough to be in optimal health.
Personally, I’m among those who find this goal very easy to acheive at work, but often forget at home or when I’m out all day. So my goal is to be more aware on my less-structured days and drink my water then, too.
