I think it makes me a better parent. Reading Calvin and Hobbes is almost like reading the diary of an especially precocious child. Watterson does a spectacular job of moving in and out of the mind of this young boy. And here’s the thing: I find that when I have read some C&H recently, I tend to be more understanding with my son—I’m better able to see things from his point of view, and I don’t go nuts about things that should be perfectly fine. So, I’m going to make an effort to read them regularly.
