How do I want to make the most of my 20s? This is a hard, yet easy goal in a way. All of my other goals listed are what I want to do in my 20s, that’s the easy part. But for me, I want to later in life look back and think “Damn, I did everything I wanted to. And discovered things that were not goals that also helped me grow as a person.” That part is a little harder for me, because I’m in the present and not looking back in hindsight. Yet, they do say you need to be “present in each moment” and I now that I think of it that’s probably the best way to decide your goals. But I think I’ll do a combination of both, mostly the latter.
Okay, enough talk. How to make the most of my twenties…
-Put my husband, family, and friends before anything else
-Start and maintain better relationships with friends
-Call/email/snail-mail my family back east
-Be thankful for my body, and make good use of it by staying active: hiking, biking, sports (soccer), swimming
-I want to learn about completely different career fields in depth. I’ve learned about Human Services and psychology in depth (with my degrees and jobs held). Maybe law, medical, real estate, etc. But find a balance so I stay in a job for a good time and not look like I’m job hopping. Maybe every 3-4 years. Basically I want to feel that I’m a well rounded person.
-Be a well rounded person in that I feel I am “performing at optimal levels”
-Be involved in my community, country, and world to help better society.-find someway of contributing in each at the same time, and if I find some other way of helping I’m interested in do that too
-Keep my traditions while seeking novelty
-Push myself out of my comfort zone, for the sake of adventure, learning, and growth
- With each goal, exhaust everything possible in order to achieve it- and try again later if it’s not possible at the moment
- Be wise with my money: save for emergencies, save for adventures, spend on what I need, spend “fun money” so I don’t feel deprived
I purposely made the above goals on a broader scale, as far as not being specific. I want to use my actual 43things goals as the specific ways to achieve my broader goals. I feel I have achieved everything I’ve wanted with my past goals. Even ones that seemed impossible for me, like traveling in Europe for one month.
