I finally got rid of the two beds and recliner in my garage. Technically, this is not recycling them but it is nice to get some extra room for the vehicles.
To do:
a pile of metal (I’m still not sure where I should bring it)
imported beer bottles
coke bottles and beer cans
2 old propane tanks (trash)

Because the fridge no longer works we did not feel right calling the electric company and selling it for $40. We gave it to Lowe’s when they brought us our new freezer.

more cardboard in to the recycling plant this week. I forgot to take a look at their metal recycling bin to see if any of my metal can get dumped in there.
I had the wood from my old waterbed in my garage because I hoped to make shelving out of it. My father-in-law suggested I place it in the rafters of the garage and store the summer items up there. Great idea. The toys I trip on all winter are safely stored up high.

I recycled the anti-freeze that’s been sitting in my garage for a couple of years. It was quite easy to do, I just called up the hazardous waste and got a time to dump it. There were four people apparently doing nothing, so I’m not sure why I needed to set up an appointment.
I returned another batch of bottles.
I found a place that will dispose of the propane tanks for only $3 each. They will also take my daughter’s bed for $20.
I now have even more metal to get rid of since I now have the old garage door opener (with runner).
My garage is starting to look good. I hung up the bikes on the joists. I also hung up some lawn chairs to the walls.

I returned two trunk fulls of beer pop bottles, and I have one more trip to go. I also have a pile of cardboard to get rid of. I need to get the basement clean so that my father-in-law can install a new garage door opener. Ours has been broken for a couple of years now. My wife wants the new vehicle stored safely away.

I took the 2 car batteries to a car battery shop around the corner. I was given $16 for the pair. Most excellent. I then took my daughter to turn in the pop and beer cans and she made $27 from them.
To do:
a pile of metal (I’m not sure where it is)
imported beer bottles
2 old propane tanks
more cardboard
antifreeze

My father-in-law helped me take the pile of cardboard to the recycling center. I didn’t realize that they keep the recycling center open all the time and I could drop things off on my way to work.
My daughter took the pop bottles and beer cans in. She now has $44 for her venturing trip.
To do still:
2 car batteries (which I found places to take, but I should see if I can get money for them)
antifreeze
a pile of metal
a few dozen imported beer bottles.
2 old propane tanks.

I brought the old fluorescent light bulbs to Home Depot to recycle while I picked up some new ones. I’m convinced that some of them are probably OK, because they burn out in pairs and I suspect that I removed some good ones as well. I was happy that none broke on the way there.
Still to recycle: cardboard, car batteries, and maybe antifreeze.

I took care of the pop bottles, the empty water bottles and the leaves; however, the stack of cardboard is still in my garage. We were expecting a huge storm last night and I had to make room for our car. What a mess the garage is now. All the cardboard is thrown on top of the kids toys. I wish I had recycled the pile of cardboard while I had the chance.

I have somethings in my garage that I want to clear out before the snow flies. I need to recycle or properly dispose of:
Florescent light bulbs
Used antifreeze
2 Car batteries
pop bottles
a bag of empty water bottles
a pile of cardboard boxes.
I’m not sure where to take the boxes. Any ideas?
