This is the last bridge to get to Campau Square Plaza Building, half way from Van Andel Arena to Devos Hall.
Incidentally, Van Andel and Devos are the two men that founded Amway, one of the biggest companies in West Michigan. The two families names are on many of the buildings around here.

We walked half way on the Sky Walk, it took us about 20 minutes. Here is another bridge along the way. The walk splits up several times and we only had the energy to walk the main route.

Here is the second half of the first bridge. Actually it was in three parts, you can just see where it turns the corner at the end.

My son and I had over an hour wait until the gates opened at the hockey game. I noticed there was a sign for a Sky Walk. I asked my son if would like to explore it and he agreed. I was pleasantly surprised at how many bridges over streets it contained.
This was the first and longest of the footbridges we encountered on the Sky Walk.

Here is another view of the bridge through Grand Rapids. On the right side of the two photos is the Grand Rapids museum.

In the heart of Grand Rapids is a huge footbridge which obviously was used for trains in years gone by. At Art Prize one year they had a huge chair on top of it – it was an eye sore, but it still placed in the top 10.

At Seabadge training last week I saw Josh’s Bridge. The old bridge was quite rickety and when Josh tripped and broke his leg, they decided to build a new one and name it after the boy. I hope I have a footbridge named after me someday, but I don’t want to have to break my leg to receive the honors.

in Ken-o-shay park. I took several photos a few days after it happened and this one shows the damage the best. The bridge is fine – only the wooden handrail seemed affected.

I get my love of bridges honestly. My dad built one for his back yard to go over a small stream. Unfortunately, he never treated it and it is starting to rot. I took several pictures, but I think the one that sums it up the best is with my dad standing on it.
