I would

still like to get a photo of a snake and a turtle, but that winter is around the corner the only animals I will be able to photograph are ones that I’ve already snapped.

Praying Mantis

I saw this bug on the window ledge as I was delivering reports. I raced back to my desk to get my camera and he was still there. By the time I got there, he was finished eating the grasshopper caught with his raptorial legs.

Another deer

Later that day I walked with Terri and saw this deer.

Deer

I saw this deer when I was walking with Mark. I took many photos until he looked up and inadvertently posed for me.

Sandhill Crane

These beautiful animals walk around our campus at work and only appear when you don’t have a camera. I finally spotted them when I had it with me.

Cardinal

Our building has one way glass. The animals are oblivious that we are gathering around and staring at them. Sadly, we lose a few male birds that try to kill their reflection.

Dragonfly

The dragonflies feast on the flies and mosquitoes that torment us. I could never kill one. This one landed and stayed on the ground long enough for me to grab a photo.

Big bug

I think this may be related to the cicada. It’s almost two inches long, but they are hard to see because of their camouflage.

Snapping turtle

The females walk around in the spring looking for a place to bury their eggs. We usually don’t see them the rest of the year. This turtle has a shell a foot across.

Turkey

This tom (male) was showing off for his harem. Once extinct from Michigan the turkey was re-introduced and now is ubiquitous.
