Oops! I have sort of neglected this lately… Life is just one big blur of exam preparation at the moment, sigh. Here are a few things I do remember from the last couple of weeks… probably mostly revolving around food:

30/04
  • last comedy night of the academic year – it went ok. TBH I was just pleased it was done!
02/05
  • bizarre yet hilarious revision class with the head of the paper, who has quite a sense of humour.
  • graze box :D
03/05
  • awful day. but I got to eat white chocolate and orange cookies
  • exciting pick-up of tickets for a ball I’m going to in June. Yay :)

  • a nice lunch at CC with R
  • excellent revision supervision on my worst paper. Perked me up a bit!

  • another nando’s session with A (yum!) and dessert at an italian restaurant
  • AMAZING gig in a church with a band I’ve been following for about five years now. A real treat.

  • much laughter and fun with G for dinner. lovely.

  • booking train tickets for the post-exam music festival I’m going to, where I’ll be able to celebrate my birthday. Exciting!
  • a really rather nice ham avocado salad sandwich. I don’t know why it was so good, but it just was.
  • delicious treat of chocolate orange spread on toast… mmm

  • awesome, encouraging, interesting supervision on my final essay of last term. Whoop!
  • delicious chicken salad for lunch

  • my summer job getting final confirmation. Hooray!

  • getting into ‘the zone’ with study – discovering that working standing up works for me :)
  • getting my new fountain pen in the post and it writing beeeeautifully!

  • chilled out morning off, with a cycle ride and trip to the supermarket on the other side of town to buy food, and watching a film
  • finding out i don’t weigh quite as much as I thought…

  • fun zumba session (probably to the annoyance of my neighbours)

  • tasty lunch at CC with R
  • catching up with E over a bite to eat
  • getting 4 good solid topics revised
  • finding out everything is in place for my exam concessions
  • a friend asking if I want to move in with her in October. VERY VERY TEMPTING.

  • moving onto easier revision topics, at last
  • a really nice long yoga session

  • a good meeting with my director of studies, and getting encouragement about my dissertation
  • making exciting choices for next year’s modules

  • a friend popping by before her bar shift for a natter
  • fun fun fun college party followed by going to a few bars in town, then chilling out with pizza and a bad movie

  • DAY OFF OF FUN! I went teapot shopping, book shopping, food shopping… then caught up on sleep and had:
  • a huge feast at nando’s with A. YAY :)
  • lots of reading of Anna Karenina (the end is in sight! it has taken me so long!) and drinking tea

  • morning sun in the library
  • finding a voucher that will pay for a replacement for my broken headphones!

  • walking back to the library after dinner, thinking how strange a colour the sky had turned, then seeing A RAINBOW!!! So exciting :’)
  • also seeing a happy-looking ginger cat outside the library, which reminded me of my own cat at home

  • day off of joy! best bit: realising i was in the right part of town to visit some friends, and spending a couple of hours catching up

  • a really enjoyable lunch of sourdough bread, houmous, red pepper and tomatoes, plus dutch easter bread with sliced strawberries. YUM.

  • beautiful sunny chilly morning! it was lovely sitting in front of the window in the library
  • starting to feel more capable of facing exams
  • catching up with my sister on the phone, and getting excited about summer plans

  • an absolutely beautiful dark blue starry sky on the way home

  • smell of rain in the afternoon
  • the thought of having made it through lent with no coca cola! yessss!
  • the first drink of post-lent coke. (nice, for a start. then I drank too much and felt horribly bloated and on edge. it seems I’m no longer used to the caffeine)

  • hearing a couple of reactions to the little easter eggs I left in people’s pigeonholes in college – it was nice to have brought a little bit of happiness. One person figured out it was me, though!
  • successful procrastination-reduced day of work

  • post-library barbra streisand film-watching with amaretto and an easter egg!

  • going to Holland!
  • sending off a job application and getting an almost instant response telling me they want to meet me…

  • lovely day of amsterdam goodness – rijksmuseum (partly closed, but what was there was excellent), house of bols for genever tasting, shopping, kroket-eating, and a night out at a bar. Fun!

  • horrendously hungover day, but solace came in an amazing big bowl of indonesian/surinamese broth from my friend’s mother

  • more delicious soup, and dutch baked goodies
  • lovely afternoon helping to prepare, then eat, a surinamese feast. YUM.

  • awesome day spent at the dutch open air museum, and cycling

  • wandering around Albert Heijn in the Hague. I love supermarket shopping in foreign countries
  • lovely wandering around the promenade at Sheveningen

  • watching a funny film and eating salad to get over the days of indulgence (then eating more cookies)

  • AMAZINGLY LOVELY day in the Hague, having a tour of parliament, looking at amazing Escher prints in the Palace, trying raw herring, doing some good shopping
  • a lovely lovely lunch bagel with old dutch cheese, gherkins, mustard sauce and pine nuts. Seeeeeriously good.

  • amazing 15 mile bike ride through local villages, and exploring bridleways, all on a BEAUTIFUL sunny morning. JOY.

  • pre-Holland excitement (I fly in a week!)
  • sunny study break with A
  • cooking a proper meal for the first time in a long time (I’ve been living on tasty but pre-made soups and meals, plus eating out…), and enjoying the process (I love to cook!)

  • an absolutely freaking beautiful morning to wake up to. blue skies, sun, warmth! am I really still in England, in March?!
  • happy drinks with C, who is visiting from Italy
  • also getting to see G and E
  • super focused productive day of work

  • lovely lovely day with parents, involving a great lunch, punting, tasty cake, sunshine…

  • excellent day of lie-in, BBQ on the green by the river, beers, fun people… It felt like summer, and it felt like old good times.

  • beautiful beautiful day. chilled out start, met some people in the college gardens on my way to the library and got distracted in a good way
  • excitement of firework testing (in the daytime!) for our college ball
  • The smell of the air coming in through the library window was AMAZING

  • party fun! went to the annual baltic societies’ vodka party (in a church!), which is always amazing. it was, as ever, excellent, with fun fun people. followed by the end of term college party with fantastic music
