Brian is a good guy. 3 months ago

My ex is flying here to help me drive the 1,000 miles back to Orlando.

Kids...they are cute sometimes. 7 months ago

This little blond boy with a bowl haircut was stomping around my Starbucks tonight, pretending to be a T-rex. Gnashing his teeth, making the little curled arm movements…so precious.

Clayton really enjoyed this, hope you will too. 8 months ago

I had to call and leave him a voicemail the other day because I was moved by something…

At the mall I work in, the Easter Bunny’s setup is at one end of the food court. Behind the area where they have his chair, and the frippery and ribbons and fake grass, there is a long curved wall around waist high, with maybe ten big flowerpots perched atop it. Behind that wall is where the food court’s tables and chairs begin. I was seated there, and noticed that from my vantage point, I could peek between the flower pots and watch the people having Easter portraits made. I couldn’t see the kids, but I could see their parents’ glowing faces as they watched the kids in their finery being entertained by those patient photographers. So much love displayed there in unguarded moments, public but so private, those smiles. I wanted to take pictures of the parents but didn’t want to look like a weirdo.

Two encouraging things from my trip to Target. 8 months ago

On my way in, I saw a thermos in the parking lot. I thought ‘What a shame, someone has forgotten their thermos.’ and kept walking.

Inside, a stranger saw me struggling to get something from a high shelf and offered to get it down for me. :) He didn’t work there, was just being a gentleman.

Back outside, saw that someone had moved the thermos to a spot where it wouldn’t get crushed by a car. Not likely that the owner is going to come back for it, but still…pretty cool that they bothered to do that. Why didn’t I think to?

A big ol' fifty cent wish. :) 9 months ago

What is she talking about? Well I’ll tell ya.

My beloved ex-boyfriend and good friend Clayton was in town recently, and one evening he was waiting for me when I got out of work. He had a gift for me: a fifty cent coin. I wasn’t sure what it was for, but he explained it was for making a really good, really BIG wish in the fountain there at the mall. :) And so I did.

My coworker, James 9 months ago

gave me a box of Chinese food today. :) Apparently, late at night in the food court at the mall we work in, the Chinese place starts giving deep discounts because they’re just going to throw it away anyway. He came back from his break with two big ol’ boxes of noodles and veggies and meat n such and he gave me one. <3

Brian helped me clean up cat pee. 11 months ago

For some reason we can’t fathom, the cat decided to pee on all of my shoes. Some of them had to be tossed. (Tragic.) Others could be saved with disinfectant wipes. While I worked on the floor, Brian salvaged as many shoes as he could. He didn’t have to. I didn’t even ask. He just did it.

Oh and he cleaned the keyboard I’m typing on.

Someone whom I didn’t even recognise was a regular customer described me as a “ray of sunshine” whenever she comes in. Nice to be appreciated.

puppy break 15 months ago

Our buddy and now neighbor Jeremy just visited for a few minutes, and he brought his girlfriend’s puppy with, just because he knew we’d enjoy it. That puppy breath is divine. :) This pic is not the pup Jeremy brought over, just a random wee Maltese.

the other day 15 months ago

Some customer only had a few cents left on his gift card so he gave it to the person behind him in line with a laugh and said maybe it would pay the tax on their drink.
