Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Raven is doing 4 things including…

lose weight

10 cheers

Off a month

Hit a point where I could not lose the last 10 pounds. Took October off – No exercise. Put on about 5 pounds. Starting up again this weekend. Looking to lose 20 by New Years.

Holding Stead

Started doing more weight training 1st of June – cut back on aerobics – there is only so much time.
But as a result I stopped losing. I need to burn off another 15 pounds. 13 weeks until New Years – that would be 20 pounds.

So I’m off weight training for a while – sticking to aerobics – going to try the getting up early every morning for half hour and then evenings every other day for 50 mins and see if I can drop this extra weight.

Bought a Tuxedo last weekend. Yea, looks good.

I’m going to give away the bride next weekend – my brother daughter – I’m pretty excited.

His oldest daughter is getting married next month – kinda short notice – I’d be thrilled if she asked.

My daughter is getting married “sometime”; probably later in August.

Man I have to work on some speeches.

How about this.

I wish you Joy, Happiness and patience.
the joy of a young couple creating a new family
the happiness of an older couple walking hand in hand through the park
and bountiful patience for all the little times in between when the former and later seem to elusive.

Ya think the last line is a downer?

Final Destination

Baby Gurl gets married in August. The ex will be there wit her rich husband – if i have to go alone, I ought to at least look good.

Think I’ll to make the push for 179. That’s 11 pounds in 7 weeks. Four weddings to go to this year give the bride away at two, maybe three – think I’ll buy a tux.

See, now it would be really handy to know a nice lady that can tell me if it looks super! eh, that’s fluff anyway, I always look super!

I feel it necessary to pass on a warning about this whole weight loss thing. There are hazards!

Like this morning – shaving. I am not blind but y vision is a tad blurry in the morning – however, it is my face and I have been shaving for a long time – I know the territory. So anyway, there I am, shaving, when out of the clear blue this sharp pain and then blood. WTF! that hurts. So I begin to run my hand up along my throat, in order to locate the offense, and my hand is blocked by this blunt object. So i grab y glasses in order to investigate further and what do I see? Instead of a plump smooth jowl, rising gracefully from my adams apple to y lower lip, I see this obstruction protruding about 2 inches below my lower lip. I quickly logged in and googled “facial anatomy”. Did some research, and to my surprise, I found this is a naturally occurring formation – it’s called a chin. And what is worse, it is connected to this thing called a jaw that runs, literally, from ear to ear. I couldn’t image, this is terrible, not only do I have to wear my glasses shaving, I’ve got to get a new prescription so i can see myself in the mirror. And if that wasn’t bad enough, I’m also going to have to get nose hair clippers for a problem I couldn’t even see before and it looks like I’ll need a new barber cause damn.

And for you folks that shave more than you “chin”, you better have band-aid brand pretty handy

My favorite BMI calculator

It’s got a great graphic and user entry allows you to play “what if”.
“what if” I weigh 185 – rats?
“what if” I weigh 184 – rats?
“what if” i were an inch taller? – woo hoo! only 11 pounds to go – then I’ll be nermal :)

Down another 10 – but the size 34 are still too tight to wear. Still need to lose 10 pounds – but 15 would be better.

down another 6 pounds

The new belt I bought two months ago – I’m down to the last belt loop – gonna need a new belt soon.

The two new pair of slacks I bought – have to get them taken in.

Shirt size down from an 18 1/2 to a 16 1/2

The size 36 pants are really comfortable but really baggy – size 34 are too tight to wear.

Shooting for 185 by June 15.
