I just finished this over the weekend. It’s a collection of short stories. It was a really wonderful book. I highly recommend it.

I see I have read ZERO books on my list. I have, however, read a bunch more. As far a the big P goes, it seems books 3 and 4 of Updike’s Rabbit quatrology are on the list. I really do not like a single character in the first two, and I suspect that pattern shall hold, but they are quick reads. I have Rabbit is Rich on the stack at home.
His Family by Ernet Poole and March by Gerladine Brooks.
Other Pultzers on my list are:
The War with Mexico – Justin H. Smith (history)
Washington’s Cross – David Hackett Fisher (history)
Why Marry – Jesse Lynch Williams (drama)
Doubt – John Patrick Shanley (drama)
Untitled Subjects – Richard Howard (poetry)
Late Wife – Claudia Emerson (poetry)
‘A Thousand Acres’ by Jane Smiley. It’s a remarkably easy read. It’s moving right along.
I consider myself a fairly literate person, but I have read none of the Pulitzer novels. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in several of the plays, though. My goal is to read all of the books in all categories of Pulitzer Prize winners.
