150 Smackeroos! Woot! My highest paying gig yet! :) It all went to materials for my shop.
Hopefully, we’ll be touring this show a bit this fall and get something a litte more substantial. At the very least I’d get trip to Charleston! Don’t I make a HAWT DOC?!?

but it is probably too dark. Shadows = not ideal

But I’m not sure I can use it as a headshot with the angle of my body. Usually something more open is needed.

I usually take really horrid pictures, but I like these! In about 6 months I’ll have them re-shot. By then my hair will be darker and my face (in theory) will be less chubby-cheeked. My friend who is starting to do headshots professionally took them for free. He hasn’t yet shown me which ones he plans to use in his Master Shot (or whatever it’s called) book, but these are my favorites.
This one is my main headshot…

A friend is doing them to build up his portfolio, so he’s not charging me, which totally saves me $200+ I didn’t have anyway. I would wait until I could darken my hair closer to its original shade, but I also need them for the program of Dracula. If I like what he does with me, I’ll pay him for some work right before I go to New York. Those will be my “super-professional” pics.

I got my stipend for this years USF production of As You Like It. It seems for the low price of $20 bucks, I will work every night and all weekend long for 2 months in 100+ degree weather, and do construction work at the end of it all.
That said, this being my second paying gig, I am now eligible for, er…stuff like auditions with, er, people….and stuff.

I was talking to my girlfriend a few weeks ago, and we’re going to go together. Hopefully, another friend of ours who is in L.A. now will come with us. Also, some guy friends are talking about going, too. We can have a boys’ house and a girls’ house! If we go together, we have a better chance of sticking it out and making something of our dreams. We’ve got connections in theater and everything! I’ve already told my dad I’m selling the truck (it’s still officially his) to finance the move, and he seemed okay with it. I need to drop 20 lbs. (maybe), get (really kick-ass) head shots, and start studying my craft more intensely. The lease on my place runs out next New Year’s Eve. We hope to be up there in time for New Year’s in Times Square (sybolic for us). I even got some Times Square bookcrossing labels to do a special release in greenville right before we go.

Unless you count that Christmas parade in high school.
We got a $25 stipend for working on Love’s Labour’s Lost. We didn’t know we were getting it until closing night. Yay!

The only(?) professional theater in town is having open auditions next month. It’s all cold readings and I don’t ‘have to’ have a head shot. The auditions are for the entire season and all of the directors will be there. I’m trying not to think about it too much as it’s still over a month away. I’m not so much excited about working at the theater itself as I am about it being a step in a much greater journey.
