I went out to a jazz club and ran into some friends. The husband-person (who is a great dancer) asked me to dance and I was actually able to follow some pretty swinging stuff. It was such a blast to be twirled around and not step on any toes.
I have noticed that it is easier to follow after a few drinks. It makes me less willful. Hmmm….
I’ve gone to a few swing dancing sessions, and I learned that, even though I don’t know what I’m doing, if I can follow, I look like I don’t know what I’m doing a little less!
that, when dancing, sometimes the only thing to follow is your heart. Corny, I know. But still true.
Since most of the structured dancing I’ve done has been choreographed for the stage, I’m used to being in control of my own movements. I need to be able to give that up in social dance situations so that I can be on the same page with my partner if the occasion should arise.
