Still stuck like my last post but I figured out that I can fold them during my 2 hour drive home to my parents I make once a month. Don’t worry- my husband does the driving. I am hopeful, then, that I can do it.

I started a new job and I collapse at the end of the day. I haven’t folded a crane in almost a month. Ugh.
I like doing it assembly line style. Like, folding 20 into squares. And then folding them into the diamonds, etc.
So it took me a week to fold 105… 10% done. I feel like each one has their own little personality… probably because some were not folded as well as others and have funny shaped necks or heads. Haha.
I am folding 10 a day and I did 10 today. A few things I’ve already learned:
1. Use paper bigger than 3” (Though it’s too late for me…)
2. Pinch EVERY crease between your fingernails and slide your fingernails down every fold and it will be very crisp
3. If you just make sure the points line up perfectly, the entire crease will line up too. Way easier than trying to line up an entire side of the paper.
4. There are a million ways to fold a paper crane. One will work for you. YouTube is a great resource for finding a way.
5. Don’t rush at all. As much as 1000 sounds daunting… take your time and they come out better and you get less frustrated.
6. You don’t have to have each side touch the fold line especially if you have small paper because eventually the smaller folds will overlap. If you have a fold that is overlapping you can fix it by rolling the point to get it back to center and then recrease.
7. White paper is the worst.
That’s a lot for day 1.
I think I’ll write a note inside each crane about why I love my husband, memories I have with him, etc. He hasn’t been feeling well most of the year and I hope maybe our wishes will come true and he’ll start to feel better!
I tried reading written instructions, but it gets complicated. If you search on YouTube, there are a lot of instructional videos. I am studying the videos until my paper comes in the mail. I know, I know- I’m studying. I just like to do things right. I’m a dork. And if I am going to spend a million hours on this, I might as well do it right and not be frustrated. Right?
My paper is coming in the mail. Here’s the gameplan: Fold 10 a day for 100 days. Sounds simple enough. I bet the first 50 are hard because you are learning the fold and after that it’ll go by quickly. Hopefully I can start next week when the paper arrives.
