Viewers, in your own opinion, do you count living in a foreign country for only 2 weeks in a hotel on a study abroad trip?

An excerpt of my comment to someone else’s entry about living in a foreign country:
Definitely, the US is very close-minded. Everyone must explore outside their boundaries, into foreign land. I believe a person can learn much more than just sitting in a classrom listening to a lecture. A person can learn more about themselves as well as past and current global issues around the world by interacting with the locals. When I went to Europe on my own for the very first time, I only stayed there for a week. I didn’t want to come back to the states. I loved it there in Europe.
I am considering on living for at least a year in Switzerland and at least a year in Japan. Sounds awesome, right?! _
