Raise chickens

FINALLY, about 5 months on, the chickens we raised from 3 day old chicks have begun laying! Our black one is laying beautiful dark speckled eggs and the two white ones are very naughty, always flying over the fence and eating our lettuce seedlings or scratching up the garden. Hehe

Im so happy we can finally tick this one off as done!

Oh how they’ve grown! Three months went so fast!
We’ve put our 3 new chickens in the big pen with our 3 older chickens. There were a few scuffles at first but things seem to be settling down and they’re happy getting along in two separate groups. I hope eventually they will all be able to get along together.

These new chickens seem to love to roost on the fence.. and these last few days they’ve even flown up onto the washing line! Hehe.

We’ve been catching them and putting them into the roosting shed. Lets hope they learn soon that thats where they sleep! =)

They’re really beginning to look like ‘hens’ rather than ‘chicks’!
I can’t wait till they begin to lay eggs. =)

Our chickens are 2 months old now.
They’re still growing and they’re alot more confident now. They don’t freak out as much now when we walk into their coupe. We’re feeding them scraps from our kitchen now as well as their special ‘baby chicken’ feed.

I love my black chicken! She’s so sweet! =)

They’re now about a month old and out of their cardboard box. We’ve put them in a little enclosed chicken pen and they’re loving it! Scratching around, flapping their wings.. =)

They’re still very cute but they’re getting bigger!!

Our babies are now over 2 weeks old.. and they’ve grown heaps! They’ve got their little tails, and are beginning to grow adult feathers in amongst all that fluffy down.

Its very hard to catch them for a good photo, as they’re super quick now! They’re even starting to fly around and use their wings!

..the pic is missing the black chick but she’s only a little smaller than the two white ones.
