Been 2 years now

I started writing left handed on January 4, 2007. I’ve written left handed on and off since then, and this is what my handwriting looks like right now.

Happy Left Handers Day, everyone!

This is incredible, lol! I’ve been using my left hand for so much, it’s sore! Probably because I write several pages a day lefty, mostly because it’s summer and I’m bored… I looked up how to do hand strengthening exercises to do to catch my left up with my right in dexterity and strength. I’m going to start doing those, whenever I remember. I was curious and found out how to say “left handed” in Spanish. It’s “zurdo”. It’s a lot cooler than “right handed” in Spanish, which is “derecho”. :P
Mom found some old chopsticks we had in our silverware drawer in the kitchen, so I’ve taken those and used them left handed for coordination practice. Sometimes it’s annoying how dominant my right is…I tried holding the chopsticks for the FIRST time in my left hand, and it was hard to use them to eat, then I put them in my right to see what it’s like, and it’s naturally a TON easier to use them that way :X

I reached my 100th page of writing left handed! My writing is smoother now and I can hold the pencil more comfortably. It doesn’t feel totally awkward to be writing lefty anymore. My writing is DEFINITELY not perfect yet and I’m going to keep writing until it is :) Some things I’m doing left handed, even if it’s not as good as my right hand (yet) are:
Brushing my teeth
Throwing a ball (when I remember)
Unscrewing bottle caps (this one is fun lol)
Writing (duh)
Playing Guitar Hero!
I can almost play Guitar Hero equally with both hands now :) My left hand just needs to hit that strum bar a little faster…

[EDIT] Okay the bizarre red boxes in my picture were supposed to be dates…it looked fine in Photoshop, but now it’s like this online 0_0
The top red box was supposed to say “January 4 2007” and the bottom box was supposed to say “July 1 2007”

I’ve been writing pages in a spare notebook with my left hand since January 4th, so it has been about 3 months now and my handwriting has improved some. This is definitely something that takes time and patience! I brush my teeth everyday with my left hand now, and I’ve gotten surprisingly better at that, and it encourages me to keep practicing stuff with my left hand. Something that really helps hand-eye coordination with your left & right is juggling, which I do often now. :)
