When I get stressed or feel down, I turn to food – which is sabbotaging weight loss. What to do? I suppose I need other ways to deal with stress/blue mood.
Here’s some alternative strategies I’m going to try:
Stress
•Change the way I think about stressful situations:
* check self-talk
* put situation in perspective (its not the end of the world)
* develop a plan, and ask for help
* look at the funny side
* develop grit (think strong)
•Learn to say no and not feel guilty
•Take care of my health & make time for R&R
•Extra exercise after a stressful day
•Watch something funny, laugh
•Develop good organizational skills
Blues
Ways other than eating to lift a blue mood:
•Grab a cup of tea and visit 43 Things! Review my goals and do something toward one of them.
•Count my blessings
•Look for the good around me
•Take a mall walk
•Meet for a coffee with a good friend (even if I don’t feel like it at the time)
•Have a manicure or hair cut
•Buy a gift for someone special and wrap it nicely
•Listen to my favorite music
•Make something
