Show my affection with a weekly romantic gesture

After his poker night last night, he came in wanting to spend a little time with me. The first thing he asked was if I wanted to play Monopoly (perfect!). Without hesitation, I agreed. So at 3am, we played a game of Monopoly…and I kicked his ass! He had fun though.

Romance doesn’t always mean flowers, candles, and all that other mushy stuff. Sometimes, it means going that extra mile for someone and letting them know they’re always in your thoughts. I’ve been neglecting this goal for a little while and I’ve decided to redeem myself with a selfless gesture. I’m gonna do something with him that I normally hate doing…something like watching SportsCenter or playing Monopoly (‘cause he kicks my ass every time!).

I wrote “I love you” on the bathroom mirror with soap. It’s something so simple, but I thought it’d be a nice surprise whenever he steps out of the shower. That’s the only way he’ll be able to see it. ;)

So I wrote a short little poem for him, but then I chickened out on giving it to him. Some of it sounded very nice, but it was a little too…err…corny for me to share. I’m sure he would’ve appreciated it. I might tweak it a little or write something completely different later.

...but appreciated all the same. You see, the two of us work together at a restaurant. I’m a server and he’s usually on the grill. I was taking a to-go order the other night and put the words “I love you” in place of the name on the ticket I was ringing in. So…when the grill ticket printed out for him, it gave him a little surprise. He saved it, by the way. ;)
