anyone know a good freeware chess program?

stumbling block #1.
my procrastination apparently set in from Windows 95 and my Power Chess CD won’t run with XP. boo.

I downloaded Pocket Grandmaster for my phone last night, I’m in their training mode where it gives you a game in progress and it looks like there are maybe 2 or 3 moves away from Check.
so far so good.

XBox makes the popular Chessmasters title and the beginner mode is supposed to be really good. I got it from Amazon with shipping for less than $17
