I don’t know what happened, but today I was able to stick to the routine! I did a little brisk walking to warm up, then ran for a minute and walked for 90 seconds for 20 minutes. AND, the last run, I did THREE minutes, pushing me over the 20-minute mark. It feels pretty good. I didn’t go very fast, and I was inside running back and forth, but it’s still good, darn it. I’m happy.

So I tried to start my running routine today. Wiki told me I should start with a 5-minute brisk walk, then alternate 60-second jogs with 90-second walks for a total of 20 minutes. I got through 3 rotations… THREE! That sucks. I’m tempted to blame the dog for nearly pulling me off the road the whole time we were out, but I know it’s not her fault… it’s me. So, as discouraged as I am, I’ll keep working on it. Has anyone else experienced this? Do I just not want it enough? I WANT to want it more. Ugh.
I’m extremely nervous about starting to run. I’ve historically just sucked at running, and I’ve never enjoyed it very much. That said, I know there is just a hump I need to get over and then I’ll be well on my way to loving it. When I told my boyfriend that I wanted to run, he got excited and now wants us to run together. UGH, he doesn’t understand how bad I am at this. I’ve asked him to give me a week to start on my own and feel a little better about it. Even with my warm up week, I think he’s going to be pretty annoyed with me when I can’t even run 100 yards. Eeek!
