One of the reasons I love my ipad is that I literally have a library at my fingertips. I just finished The Weird Sisters and am now reading Secrets of Eden. Both were downloaded from my library’s website for free! I have to read quickly, though. The loans are only for one week! I still buy books – usually secondhand.

I found myself in awe of this story of a family who aided Jews to escape during WWII in Poland. I was impressed with their courage and sense of morality.
This hefty book caused me to ponder my own level of open-mindedness and tolerance. For that it was well worth the time.
I finished reading this book yesterday. The main character comes to realize how her decisions impact others and how she is perceived by them. As someone who has entertained fantasies of “running away”, I was moved by her emotional pain and her hard-won growth.
I had been wanting to read this for years, and I finally did. Well worth the wait, a book I will likely return to again and again. I enjoyed the insights on how a life changes shape over time.
I really liked the premise of the four agreements, although, at times he concept seems too simple to work – too good to be true. Perhaps I am just jaded from years of living among people. Even so, I am going to strive to apply some of these principles to my life – to be accountable for my words and my actions. To be true to myself rather than society’s plan.
I took my time reading this, which is part of the reason I toned down my goal of reading 50 books in 2007. I often felt rushed when I wanted to savor a book instead. I almost hesitated to quantify the number of books I plan to read. Maybe I should read just for reading’s sake? But I wanted to challenge myself somehow.
