My latest character made #6 on my high scores list. It’s pretty good, but he happened to run up against a Dorn Beast in the Pyramid. I knew he was toast.

I’ve been playing ADOM for years now. It’s a freeware RPG version of Diablo, only with no real graphics. Everything is in letters, so there’s quite a rush when you see a yellow ‘L’ coming toward you because you’re about to get your head handed to you by a Lich. In that sense it never gets outdated. You also can’t load games either (although you can save one game at a time), so if you die, your character’s dead for good.
I’ve gotten as far the chaos water elemental temple, but I’ve just started playing this game again since it’s a great time waster and it’s exam time. I’ll see if I can get another really good character rolling again in between studying sessions.
