exhibit my photographs in a public place

I’ll be holding an open day in a public place on the 7th of November. It will be my own work on display – portrait and wedding stuff, and I’m still pondering whether to put a little landscape/travel stuff up, or will that be too much of a spread of genre? Hmm…

Anyway… open day ... yeah, should be fun. We’ll be doing a bit of a fashion shoot, too – I have a willing model coming along, and the number for another one. As well as free portrait sittings. Should be fun if I can get enough people to come along.

One of my regular pubs has artwork up for sale on the walls. Last night, we noticed the artwork has changed and been replaced by photos. (And I’m pretty sure I could do better than those on display).

I may approach the landlord and get on the waiting list.

Another gallery identified… a bit of a strange one, in a cafe – but there’s no real scope for standing looking at the pictures due to the layout. A little poor, that.

I’ve identified a suitable gallery. Two tasks to perform now:

1) Make a collection.
2) Approach the curator (I have her contact details).

Dropping the goal until I can come up with a more quantifiable one. I’m certainly not dropping the intention…

I went to a street carnival (a small one) the other week, and there was a guy there selling his own photos. They were mostly – in my humble opinion – not of great quality.

I figured if he can do it, why can’t I?

The answer – I have very high standards and won’t offer stuff for sale unless I’m sure it’s good enough.

I’ll ponder this for a while.

It has inspired me to get moving a little quicker.

I really must write down where I see these venues.

Unfortunately, you need to register to view full size, but it’s probably worth it. I was put off the site for a while, but I’ve been posting critiques on others’ work to earn the right to post my own. An interesting concept which seems to work well.
