I just caught a shocking news from our local evening news about Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” was killed by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was only 44!!
Quoted ~”He came on top of the stingray and the stingray’s barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart,” said Stainton, who was on board Irwin’s boat at the time.
So shocking to hear that as it was so sudden and he was so young! So sad and a great loss!!
I considered Steve Irwin a great environmental educator who contributed much to the environment and brought joy and entertainment to millions of people from all over the world!
He came to Singapore few years ago to shoot for a documentary and was a great fan of our Singapore Zoo, which he considered a sister institution of the Australia Zoo! He was the world’s GREATEST WILDLIFE ICON, and the MOST FAMOUS AUSTRALIAN, we loved him!!
Besides actively promoting the environmentalism, he was really good at doing funny impression, he ruled!! He was no doubt an icon of discovery network. Truly a great loss to the environmental world!!
He left behind his American-born wife Terri, daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.
Life is really unpredictable..sigh..
I am really saddened by this shocking news..
May he rest in peace..Let’s us all mourn for him!
