get a girlfriend

I went back to Seattle last week to visit friends and family before the school year starts. It’s a long story, but I sort of hooked up with this girl that I had met about a year and a half ago—right before I left town. She is so amazing! My ideal girl, if you want to think of it that way! I don’t suppose anything will come of it, but just being able to be with her for a few days was such a revelation to me, I can finally see that maybe, just maybe it is actually possible to find the 100% perfect girl and have some sort of relationship with her. Just being able to glimpse that small fleeting flash of ecstasy was so amazing! I feel so hopeful now, but I’m also sad to leave her and go back to Arizona. It’s kind of strange how life has a way to doing these things to us. That’s what makes it all so beautiful and worth it in the end though. You just have to keep dancing…

I took her out to dinner. It was fun! We talked and joked around the whole time. It felt right.

At the end of the night, I couldn’t really kiss her or anthing like that, because her teenage brother is staying with her right now while their parents are out of town. He was waiting on the side of the street for her to get home so she could let him in. I thought it best not to embarass her in front of her brother.

Maybe next time…

I took her to see the new Batman movie. I usually don’t like the idea of taking a girl to the movies when I’m still getting to know her, but that’s just how things played out. We were talking a lot about movies and she seemed interested in the movie, so it seemed natural.

I picked her up and we chatted and joked around on the way to the theater. The place was packed. Good thing I got tickets that morning on Fandango since they were sold out and people were in a huge line trying to get tickets for the next show. The movie was awesome, but not really a very good date movie.

I drove her back home and tried to give her a kiss. The timing wasn’t very good and it seemed a bit awkward. We just sort of kissed each other on the side of the mouth. I knew the timing wasn’t right, but I was so afraid of kissing her that I had to try it anyway. Besides, it was our third date. I couldn’t wait much longer before making a move. I’m not really sure how she feels about it. I guess the only way to know for sure is to ask her out again and see what happens.

Also, I have a friend who wants to set me up with his friend. I’ve never been “set up” before. It’s kind of nice.

I got an e-mail out of the blue from a girl I was seeing a few months ago. We had lost contact because we were both really busy and then I gave up on her. We talked for a bit, and then I asked her out for dinner.

On dinner she told me that she was seeing someone, which I found incredibly disappointing. I’m not really sure why she wanted to see me again if she’s seeing someone. I guess I’m banished again to that oh so sucky place—the “friend zone.”

My confidence feels crushed. What a waste of time.

I went on a second date last week with the girl from earlier. We went to the art museum. It was really fun! The whole time we just wandered around joking about paintings and talking. I am really beginning to like this girl!

I went on a first date yesterday. It went pretty well. I’m trying not to get too excited because I let myself do that too many times in the past just to get let down in the end. I really like her though and I would really like for this to work out.
