I have a fear of needles (and for those of you who know about my piercings and ink, you know it is a different thing so HUSH!) . . . but I was able to tolerate this without passing out. It was interesting . . . and it worked.
For some background, I was in a serious car accident one winter (not my fault – some dumb ass who was driving too fast for the road conditions slid left of center and totalled me with the Girl in the car – she was 5 – and I do have pics, so if you wanna see my car, ask). Anyhow, I had a concussion and whiplash, among other injuries (the seatbelt shaped bruise across my chest was particularly lovely but I was damned grateful for it because the cop told me had I not been belted, I would have gone through the windshield) and I had daily headaches for like six months. I was desperate and finally took my doc’s advice to try acupuncture. After like three treatments, the headaches were gone, for good. The acupuncture doc stuck thin little needles in between my fingers and into the skin between my thumb and finger, and if I remember correctly, also into the sides of my knees. It hurt just slightly . . . but damn, did it work. Weird, but interesting.
