I got back on my gym regimen quite tenaciously most of March and the beg. of April I added daily yoga… all was well til I got really sick with strep around the 10th and am only just now feeling any energy (allergies exacerbated what should have been a way shorter recup time so I’ve been feeling exhausted and still really coughy and congested the last week – slowly going away). Still not enough energy to get back into my weights/cardio at the gym but today I’m going to start easy yoga again every day… Schoolwork was crazy there for a while, too, so I wasn’t getting much rest but as of last Thursday I’ve had 8+ hours of sleep every night. Hopefully that will help, too….
happy spring everyone!

Well I’m up late doing schoolwork again, which is bad because, um, procrastination… but I’m going to do yoga, which is good because dig those forward bends for waking you up plus my arms and shoulders really want some downward dog due to my getting back to upper body stuff at the gym this weekend so color all those muscles super stiff!
Still, would be good to get to bed in the next hour or so since I have to be up so early so better get at my bends and then back to my lesson plans…
have a great week everyone!

...which I guess is still good but I want to increase the yoga factor again of course… I am being quite quite strict about stretching after gymming, which is kinda yoga-y even tho I haven’t done bonafide poses for about 5 days… it’s all about balance, as we’ve said so often!

My plan of yoga every day even if it’s just a few minutes is working pretty well so far – and as we’ve remarked here and there before, sometimes when I think I have just a few minutes, once I start moving and stretching and posing it feels so good that I go ahead and do longer. Still I know when school starts back up I will have days where I’ll feel like I have no time at all so I’m going to keep telling myself a few minutes is still worthwhile so that on days where I really do only do 5 minutes or so I don’t feel guilty and then start slacking off again out of guilt. My crazy head – life would be easier without it sometimes! Another plus about yoga and meditation is recentering my head and spirit on a regular basis :) so less crazies! :)

well you guys I have no excuse for my silence really – last semester just really bowled me over for some reason; I’m still not sure why exactly but fall semester always seems more stressful and icky than spring even when I’m doing the same exact things… anyway could also have something to with my yearly holiday funk, which has got somewhat better the last couple years but still tends to color things a bit.
all this to say I’ve been with you in spirit and tho my yoga has been a bit haphazard, I’m feeling quite energized about it with the new year!
Happy 2007 and talk to you soon!

I’ve been kinda buried but wanted to say hey to everyone… my work-out month isn’t going terribly well but I think it will be better in another week or so – had been doing a part-time retail job in addition to teaching but put my notice in there (at the former that it) last weekend. at least part of the increased free time will be spent in the gym and on the mat :) :) :)
btw Fairly I invested in the Shakti Yoga DVD on your recommendation – first session this evening – I’ll be thinking about you!

it is October which is my get-active-again month so yoga in exactly (OK more or less exactly :) 10 minutes… before bed and up early tomorrow to get back on my gym regimen which was so incredibly stellar until school started and messed me up :)
today at work I was really tired all day and I KNOW it’s because my metabolism is dropping again after not working out for so long… I did really badly on my yoga goal last week, too, (1 time only) which didn’t help either :(
anyway no negativity… think positively now! going to get the momentum going with my before-bed yoga.
happy October everyone and happy new week :)

I’m going to be doing my yoga/grading long haul again tonight – well not grading but working on Excels to average grades, blah blah blah… at least I have the yoga part to look forward to!

So last night I had about 8 million things to grade and of course had put it off til the last minute so knew (a) I’d be up late and (b) I hadn’t left any time for a yoga workout… So! I graded my patootie off and stopped every hour or so for some quick sun salutations to break up the monotony and to wake me up. It worked great plus it was really interesting – even tho there was lots of time between each mini-session, my muscles remained pretty warmed-up from one time to the next.
I think I’m going to have to do this more often, or similar at least. Part of the reason I get no yoga in on some days is precisely because I think I have to put aside a huge amount of time… so it just doesn’t happen, esp. if I’m working on school stuff and feel any kind of crunch time-wise. Obviously this is not necessary – and yes I already knew that but I often have to be reminded of things I really already know… :P
