I am reading a very inspirational text by Thich Nhat Hanh, Peace is Every Step. One point the monk makes is that “We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living… We have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.” He suggests that we come back to the present moment to find peace and joy. I’d like to work on that today.
I listened to a teaching from a Buddhist monk this weekend who taught that a life without faith is mundane. He also said in order to cherish others we need to “un-observe” their faults. I’m thinking a lot about this idea this week as I try to live in the moment.
I’m facing a commuter relationship this year. If I can learn to live in the moment more, I know I will be happier when I’m with him, and maybe even happy sometimes when I’m not. And wouldn’t that be something!
