Finally finished We ♥ Katamari over the break. The Katamari games are so ridiculous and simple, but so fun to play. I don’t know if it’s the music, the colors, the bizarre humor, or just the randomness in general.
Also I started and finished two new PS3 games, Mirror’s Edge (rented) and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, both of which were quite good honestly. It would have been more efficient to finish some of the games I have open save files for I suppose, since that’s what this goal technically is, but where’s the fun in that??
Mirror’s Edge was fun and a different style of gameplay, but the story was lame/cliché and thankfully nearly non-existent so the gameplay is the focus. Also, the cutscenes use the Esurance-style animation, so I think they should make the next game about Erin Esurance running around getting people to “quote, buy, print” for car insurance. It would make the story a lot more interesting and hilarious. So many games today are all about the cutscenes, and these were thankfully all around 2 mins. or less at the longest.
Uncharted, on the other hand, has a big focus on story, but the characters are so likeable and the scenes are done so cinematically that it actually enhances the game by a large margin. It’s essentially a much more fun-to-play version of Tomb Raider starring a guy and with great, entertaining cutscenes. Tomb Raider seemed wonky to me when I played the one for PS1 and I heard all the ones after that sucked hard, so I’ve avoided them. I didn’t even really like that one I rented, so I wasn’t likely to try them again anyways.
Next up to finish is MGS 3:Snake Eater and possibly Kingdom Hearts, though I honestly have a large stack here to tie up.
