My faith to the test... 2 years ago

My boyfriend is Protestant/Christian non-denominational, some sort of non-Catholic Christian, in short. (He seems to wander from church to church and just constantly disagreeing with the Catholic Church.
Me, I am Catholic. May have fallen off the wagon, but I try to be Catholic.
And this has become the main thing in our relationship that makes it stressful from within. (All other stresses are outside stresses.) The biggest problem seems to be that his mom is just so opposed to Catholicism God only knows why. I don’t understand it. She talks about Catholics as if we were the actual sons and daughters of Satan himself. Sure, we may not be perfect, but neither are protestants or jews or muslims or witches or taoists or buddhists.
We all strive for perfection in whatever our definition of perfection is.
My boyfriend decided to actually go to bat for me on that one, and managed to keep fighting with his mom for 3 months. Not so much defending Catholicism but defending me. He recognizes that I am a good woman, regardless of my faith, and that there is nothing wrong with me being Catholic. He even pointed out that I do read my Bible and pray often – he has seen me.
Just recently, we had an incident that really brought up the differences in our faiths, but at the same time, it really poined out the similarities.
Throughout this phase, I decided to ask St. Therese the Lisieux for her intercession, and not living too far from Lisieux, I even did a little sacrifice-pilgrimage to her Basilica and prayed. I thought I was going to lose my mind (and my boyfriend), but instead, we have come together a little closer. My boyfriend, while still very un-catholic, finally listened to some of my concerns and beliefs, and we even started praying and fasting together.
I had to get my favorite priest involved a little bit, for guidance, but I have been able to stand fast and stand strong.
I will soon be meeting his mother, and I must admit that I am terrified. I am almost afraid of meeting his family, because according to what I gather for him, they seem very much Catholic-haters.
Yikes.

Got me a Catholic Bible!! 2 years ago

All books included. :)
Makes me happy.

In any case, I also bought me a Catechism, so at least I am about to relearn my faith. I have fallen away from it soooo much.
