So prompted by Halloween season which is quickly approaching I’ve decided to become serious about my fitness. I also ran a mile on the tredmill earlier this week for the first time in my life! I mean it’s not like I’ve never ran a mile before, I’ve just never actually measured the distance that I’ve ran. I used to play soccer pretty competitively and I was a left/right mid-fielder. Mid-fielders are the players who have to run the most in the game because they just run up and down the field between the forwards and the backs. So at that point in high school I’m sure I could have ran a few miles at least and then marching band keep us in shape. I was in the most intense marching band program in the country. But yeah our shows were always soooo much work. We had ridiculous tempos that we had to march, crazy step sizes that required us to basically leap like a gazelle. Bottom line, it was tough and whipped us into shape if we weren’t already. So four years of that was good. But then spring semester of senior year and all of last year I really wasn’t in any kind of physical activity. So now I’m trying to work back up to that. Today I ran 2 miles! I’m so proud of myself. Last time I actually measured how far I ran without stopping was in 8th grade when I was in track and I just about DIED after the 800m. Anyway so I’m trying to drink plenty of water and stop eating so much junk food and sugars because they really don’t have any energy. And it’s not like I’m forcing myself to not eat these things, I actually don’t want those processed foods to go into my body. So that should make it easy; no more cravings.
