In my first entry on this subject, I stated that I consider myself a Christian, an American, a conservative, and a Republican. In that order.
I have covered the first three in my previous entries so I will cover the last one now. I have been a Republican since before I could vote. My first election was in 1984 and I was proud to vote for the greatest President of the 20th century, Ronald Reagan. Growing up, I didn’t much like the Republican party because they had a blue blood image that kind of looked down on all us “working stiffs”. Reagan changed all that and it became a political party that welcomed anyone who wanted less government and lower taxes. I embraced the new party whole heartedly. There are time when I think that elected Republicans can do much better than what they do. They lost the White House in 1992 but gained control of the House and Senate in 1994 and then lost control of both in 2006. Perhaps this election coming up they will get it right.

I have been a conservative since I could vote. I haven’t voted in every single election, but I do make sure people know what my views are if it should come up in a conversation. I have never been one to use my opinions as a bully pulpit against others. I believe that we as intelligent beings can be civil towards each other when it comes to differing opinions.
Do I believe that conservatives hold the high ground when it comes to morality? Yes.
Will I publicly berate someone for thinking otherwise? No. I believe that we live and lead by example.
Am I perfect? Not by any stretch of the imagination. I claim 1 Timothy 1:15 as my mantra Bible verse. Feel free to look it up.
I consider myself to be very proud to be an American. 20 plus years in the Regular Army and then the National Guard. Being a patriotic American isn’t just about serving in the military though. It is also about respect for what this country was founded on. Respect for the diversity of others and their beliefs even when those beliefs might be contrary to your own.
I can descibe myself in four words: Christian, American, Conservative, Republican. In that order.
First and foremost I am a Christian and my mantra verse is 1 Timothy 1:15. I don’t think of myself asperfect or better than anyone else, maybe just a little more aware of my own mortality than some people and less awre than others. I know without a doubt that I will go to heaven when I die, although being raptured is one of my goals.
