Read one book a month

Finished Guy Kawasaki’s Reality Check. Decent book, though I’m torn on whether or not I like the “collection of blog posts as book” concept. It’s hard to read it for extended periods of time when all of the ideas are short and choppy.

Kind of cheating, but I had another book where I only had 20 pages to go but then had to return it to the library. Anyway, I purchased Through Painted Deserts and finished that last night.

I’m on a roll!

I took a management seminar a couple years ago. The instructor was very insightful and had given a great piece of advice. He said that if you spent just 15 minutes a day reading a book (not blogs and articles), you would be amazed at what you would learn and accomplish over a short period of time.

That said, I’ve followed this advice before going to bed over the past week or 2. I finally got through Don Miller’s Blue Like Jazz and am looking forward to hacking away at the next book on my list.

Looks like my last finished book was 7 weeks ago, so I should be reading a little more often. At least I’ve been reading at all!

I just finished Waiting for Your Cat to Bark?: Persuading Customers When They Ignore Marketing (I wrote a review).

Next is Blue Ocean Strategy. Laura bought the book for me last Christmas, and I’m just getting to it now. It’ll be good to finally end the guilt!

I finished reading Marty Neumeier’s The Brand Gap yesterday. Another short one that’s worth a read, especially if you’re in marketing.

Kind of cheating since it’s only 70-some pages, but an apple is an apple. :)
