be courageous as often as possible

I am going to say that going to Rwanda and doing community development work this past summer counts as courageous. Now, if you were with me, you know that every bit of it was juiced by joy, so it hardly counts as brave. But if you weren’t there, go ahead and think I was brave. Just for fun.

I did eat goat. That was brave.

Biopsy results were good. Phew!

Recently I went to a dermatologist to have my skin examined. Within five minutes of meeting the doctor, he was suggesting a that we do two biopsies to get to the bottom of what was wrong. The technicians left me alone to get their tools for the stitches and I almost fell apart. Then I reminded myself: I’ve done hard things. I can do this. It helped! I was proud of myself for holding it together instead of going all soft that day. I get the results today.

Some people can’t understand this, but it is hard for me to get my car dealt with because I feel intimidated by mechanics. Yet, this week I was the one and only person who could handle this, and I did. Had to have my car towed because of a problem, diagnosed, and decide on a plan of action. I felt brave doing it.

Better yet, I saw someone who was courageous yesterday. A man with one leg got out of his car, into his wheelchair, and took his daughter to play tennis with him at the park. Blew me away. Now that is brave.
